Instructions for Melody's Travel Journal

Before Melody's visit with you ends, fill out the Travel Log Form, and upload a photo of her visit. You will need the unique code on the back of your Melody to complete this form. Your travel log entry will create a blog post on Melody’s Travel Journal, so be sure you only include information you wish others to view publicly. Use this opportunity to connect with other participants on the blog by adding your twitter handle, or blog/website URL to your travel journal post. You may also want to link to any historical sites Melody visited to help others learn about your area. You can fill out this form more than once.

Melody in Bowmanville, Canada

While in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, Melody had a chance to wear her Canada scarf (can you see the maple leaf?) and she visited many Canadian landmarks, including Camp 30. Although Camp 30 is now a run-down historical site, it was a former camp for delinquent boys and prisoner of war camp. It was also the setting for the Eric Walters book Camp 30.
Students took Melody everywhere around our 3 story school using the elevator and ramps. Students noticed how long it could take to get from one place to another, and they also commented on how some of the doors in our school are not equipped with automatic door openers. They were instructed not to open doors (to experience what Melody may feel like), so students actually got "stuck" in our gym after realizing that there was not an automatic door button to get them out.
